De hernieuwde tariefdreiging zorgt voor spanning op financi\u00eble markten.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens ingewijden wil de regering snel schakelen om het tariefbeleid juridisch steviger te verankeren.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-onderzoeken-onder-nationale-veiligheidswet\">Onderzoeken onder nationale veiligheidswet<\/h2>\n<p>De Amerikaanse regering werkt aan meerdere onderzoeken onder Section 232 van de Trade Expansion Act uit 1962. Die wet biedt de president de mogelijkheid om importheffingen op te leggen als die nodig zijn voor de nationale veiligheid.<\/p>\n<p>De onderzoeken richten zich op batterijen, gietijzer en ijzeren onderdelen, apparatuur voor elektriciteitsnetwerken, telecomapparatuur, plastics en industri\u00eble chemicali\u00ebn. Als uit die onderzoeken blijkt dat buitenlandse import een risico vormt, kan Trump nieuwe tarieven instellen.<\/p>\n<p>Eerder gebruikte hij dezelfde bevoegdheid al om heffingen op staal, aluminium en auto\u2019s in te voeren. Volgens juristen zijn dit soort nationale veiligheidsmaatregelen juridisch moeilijker aan te vechten dan noodheffingen.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-washington-kijkt-ook-naar-oneerlijke-handelspraktijken\">Washington kijkt ook naar oneerlijke handelspraktijken<\/h2>\n<p>Naast de nationale veiligheidswet kijkt Washington naar Section 301 van de Trade Act uit 1974. Die regeling is bedoeld om op te treden tegen oneerlijke handelspraktijken van andere landen.<\/p>\n<p>De Amerikaanse handelsvertegenwoordiger liet weten dat onderzoeken kunnen worden gestart naar onder meer industri\u00eble overcapaciteit, gedwongen arbeid, farmaceutische prijsafspraken en digitale belastingen die Amerikaanse technologiebedrijven raken. De onderzoeken zouden in een versneld tempo worden afgerond.<\/p>\n<p>Intussen heeft Trump al een algemene importheffing van tien procent aangekondigd. Hij dreigde dat tarief zelfs te verhogen naar vijftien procent. Volgens kenners kan zo\u2019n tijdelijke maatregel slechts enkele maanden standhouden, waarna aanvullende juridische stappen nodig zijn.<\/p>\n<p>Op sociale media waarschuwde Trump dat landen die \u201cspelen\u201d met de uitspraak van het Hooggerechtshof te maken krijgen met hogere tarieven dan eerder overeengekomen.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-europese-unie-zet-handelsdeal-on-hold\">Europese Unie zet handelsdeal on hold<\/h2>\n<p>De Europese Unie reageerde terughoudend en zette de ratificatie van een handelsakkoord met de Verenigde Staten tijdelijk stil. Europarlementari\u00ebrs willen eerst duidelijkheid over het nieuwe Amerikaanse tariefbeleid.<\/p>\n<p>Ook China, Japan, Zuid-Korea en het Verenigd Koninkrijk volgen de ontwikkelingen nauwlettend. Nieuwe importheffingen kunnen leiden tot tegenmaatregelen, wat de kans op een verdere escalatie van de handelsspanningen vergroot.<\/p>\n<p>Voor beleggers betekent dit extra onzekerheid.
