Newcastle United gaat in zee met BYDFi, een zoveelste cryptobeurs die hoopt op exposure via voetbal. Een meerjarige deal, jawel, maar laten we eerlijk zijn: het is een wanhopige poging van beide partijen om relevant te blijven in een steeds veranderender speelveld. <\/p>\n

BYDFi wordt “offici\u00eble crypto-partner”. Wat dat precies inhoudt? Waarschijnlijk vooral logo’s en loze beloftes over digitale innovatie. Laten we hopen dat supporters beter research doen dan blindelings investeren in de zoveelste obscure cryptomunt.<\/p>\n

Focus op internationale groei en digitale ervaringen? Bullshit.<\/h2>\n

Nieuwe doelgroepen bereiken? Natuurlijk. Supporters toegang geven tot “digitale financi\u00eble tools en educatieve mogelijkheden”? Dat klinkt verdacht veel als een verkooppraatje om ze te verleiden tot speculatieve investeringen. Newcastle United, ondertussen, hoopt op exposure in Azi\u00eb-Pacific. Niks mis mee, maar noem het beestje bij z’n naam: het gaat om keiharde euro’s. <\/p>\n

Peter Silverstone, Chief Commercial Officer van Newcastle United, strooit met holle frasen over “een visie die perfect bij ons aansluit”. Dat klinkt alsof hij de script van de PR-afdeling klakkeloos opdreunt. <\/p>\n

De groei van de club? Ja, ze scoren goed qua kijkcijfers en social media. Maar laten we niet vergeten dat je met een paar miljard aan investeringen al snel de aandacht trekt.<\/p>\n

Ambitie van BYDFi? Meer gebruikers, meer omzet. Punt.<\/h2>\n

Michael Hung, medeoprichter van BYDFi, orakelt over “duurzaam succes” en het “steeds opnieuw, op de juiste manier, uitvoeren van wat nodig is”. Dat klinkt alsof hij zelf niet helemaal overtuigd is van het langetermijnpotentieel van zijn eigen bedrijf. <\/p>\n

BYDFi, opgericht in 2020, bedient naar eigen zeggen meer dan een miljoen gebruikers. Indrukwekkend? Misschien. Maar de cryptomarkt is een jungle. Naleving, educatie en community-building? Allemaal mooi en aardig, maar uiteindelijk draait het om het binnenharken van commissies. Laten we hopen dat ze het geld van hun klanten beter beheren dan hun eigen marketingbudget.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
